Pycap CEO’s Mentorship Helps OncoALERT Secure Second Place out of Over 100 Teams at Schulich Together 2024

The Schulich Together 2024 competition brought together over 100 teams from Canada and India, representing diverse industries such as healthcare, technology, consumer services, and more. Among the competitors, one standout was OncoALERT, a healthcare-focused venture from India, that secured second place in this international showcase. Pycap’s CEO, Stuart Browne, had the honor of mentoring OncoALERT through this journey, offering guidance that was pivotal in their success.

Mentorship That Made a Difference

Browne, known for his expertise in investment, entrepreneurship, and shaping young minds at institutions like Schulich and UofT, gave invaluable insights to OncoALERT’s co-founder, Jayanti. His advice to “operate in a world of reality” struck a particular chord, encouraging the team to focus deeply on their monetization strategy and overall vision. Jayanti expressed immense gratitude to Stuart, sharing:

“Thank you for pushing me to be straight about our monetization strategy, think deeply about our purpose & vision, and not fall for easy answers… Your candid insights…helped us secure second place. Honestly, these lessons will stick with me way beyond this competition.”

This mentorship emphasized the value of authenticity in business planning, making OncoALERT’s offering even more compelling to the judges.

A Diverse, Impactful Program

The Together 2024 competition celebrated Indo-Canadian innovation, featuring participants from tier 2 and tier 3 cities across India and multiple Canadian universities, including York University’s Schulich School of Business. The competition fostered a collaborative environment with over 200 mentors and industry leaders across 25+ sectors, fueling each team’s journey with sector-specific insights. Healthcare was the most popular industry represented, showing the high interest in medical and wellness innovation among participants.
