Bernhardt Garlipp, CEO of GoodX, a healthcare technology company, was recently awarded a Work Permit to establish and expand his business in Canada through Pycap’s Federal Government Designated Startup Visa Incubator.

GoodX Healthcare LTD is committed to helping healthcare practices and staff to deliver timely and effective patient care.

The GoodX Software Practice Management System (web-based) is a complete and unified web application for every role in the medical practice. We serve all practice sizes, from smaller practices to large medical centres and hospitals. Our comprehensive software facilitates the daily physician’s practice workflow from diary functions with flexible scheduling to simplified billing, customizable clinical notes,

insightful reporting, health insurance claims, and easy-to-use patient relationship management tools. GoodX is currently used by more than 5000 practices in more than seven countries.

Bernhardt attended school in Centurion, South Africa. While actively participating in most sports activities (field hockey, cricket and long-distance running) he primarily focused on his chess prowess. He yearly placed in the Top 10 at the Junior South African Chess Championships. He continues to actively participate in his local chess club (Centurion Chess Club), where he has also been both the Senior and Junior Club Champion.

At school he participated in mathematics, science and computer science olympiads. To this day he still enjoys tinkering around with electronics and computers.

Bernhardt loves reading anything from sci-fi to self-improvement books. Bernhardt believes that one should give back to your community and as such he’s been a trustee/board member of a number of organizations. Currently, he is mentoring ex-colleagues in leadership and technical skills.

Nine years of part-time Business Management experience and over three years of full-time Executive Management experience. A further ten years of mid-level management and development experience in a variety of environments, with numerous medical, billing, stock and management software projects under the belt, in which he’s been the project lead for most of them.

Bernhardt has been involved in a number of industries before settling down in the medical industry for the last 10 years. In his early career he started off in the automotive industry as a SAP consultant working for Jaguar Land Rover SA, after which he transitioned into web development and management for a startup, The South African Space Resources Association.

From an idealistic point of view, the vision of GoodX Healthcare is to improve medical care for both the practitioner and the patient. By expanding into the Canadian market, GoodX Healthcare has the unique opportunity to leverage our innovative products to a larger market, allowing us to improve the overall quality of medical care provided.

From a practical point of view, the Canadian medical market provides us with a three to four times larger market compared to South Africa. Seeing as 7% of all immigrant medical practitioners are ex-South Africans in Canada, we have a unique opportunity to leverage being South Africans.

Our main aim will however always be to improve the medical care industry and cross pollination between markets will be required to improve this industry for all involved.
